{"id":1340769,"date":"2023-03-30T19:19:22","date_gmt":"2023-03-30T19:19:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/diabetesdepot.ca\/?p=1340769"},"modified":"2023-04-03T12:04:05","modified_gmt":"2023-04-03T12:04:05","slug":"pump-tips-for-spring-activities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diabetesdepot.ca\/index.php\/2023\/03\/30\/pump-tips-for-spring-activities\/","title":{"rendered":"Pump Tips for Spring Activities","gt_translate_keys":[{"key":"rendered","format":"text"}]},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s spring!\u00a0 As the weather gets warmer, an increase in activity or insulin sensitivity might affect your blood sugar management.\u00a0 Here are some insulin pump tips:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t forget to double check that you have changed the time on your devices for Daylight Savings!<\/li>\n<li>Make adjustments to your pump settings or insulin doses if you are more active or if your insulin is working better in the warmer weather.\u00a0 Not sure how to do this?\u00a0 Ask your CDE or attend an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/diabetesdepot.ca\/index.php\/workshops-ask-the-expert-sessions\/\"><em>LMC Diabetes Education specialty workshop<\/em><\/a>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Consider your infusion set site and tubing:\n<ul>\n<li>Consider the type of activity \u2013 swinging motions from baseball, golf, or tennis could dislodge an infusion set on the stomach<\/li>\n<li>Keep in mind if you are using your arms or legs for your infusion sets, your insulin may be absorbed much more quickly after those areas of the body are exercised<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that tubing isn\u2019t exposure or placed in a way that it might \u00a0snag. You may have to secure the site with additional tape.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure your infusion site can stick properly, as sweating from activity can loosen the attachment.
